About PayPal

PayPal has opened its product data infrastructure for agentic commerce. The goal is for AI agents and shopping assistants to find a specific product, understand its attributes and complete a transaction against it without the user leaving the conversation.

The key piece is Store Sync, the connection between a merchant catalog and PayPal. Data then flows into the surfaces PayPal operates, above all the PayPal Honey extension. In 2025 Honey gained a ChatGPT integration, where it adds live merchant links, current prices and cashback offers to AI recommendations.

Technically PayPal accepts feeds in CSV, TSV and PSV, optionally compressed as GZ or ZIP, with a 4 GB per-file limit. The feed can be hosted at a publicly accessible HTTPS URL, or replaced by a paginated API endpoint from which PayPal pulls the catalog daily.

Three schemas are available. Google Product Feed is the standard format known from Merchant Center. OpenAI ACP Product Feed is optimized for conversational, agent-led shopping and instant checkout in LLM environments. PayPal Enhanced Shopping Feed extends the Google schema with fields specific to agentic commerce.

Required fields include product id, title, URL, image link, description, price formatted as "XX.XX USD", availability and brand. The OpenAI ACP and PayPal Enhanced schemas additionally require the is_eligible_search and is_eligible_checkout flags, which let the merchant control what an agent may surface and what it may sell outright.

Those flags matter from the merchant side. They allow excluding assortment unsuited to automated purchase, such as made-to-order goods, age-restricted products or items with complicated delivery.

Access is currently gated and arranged with the PayPal AI team. Having a valid feed ready shortens onboarding, because the technical work is done before approval. Feedyio generates the feed in the required schema and format and provides the hosted URL.

For merchants this is an emerging channel. Competition is far thinner than in Google Shopping, and an early presence in the data layer AI assistants draw from is cheaper than catching up later.
