Alongside payments it runs Klarna Search & Compare, a shopping search and price comparison service available in the Klarna app and on klarna.com. Klarna's comparison service builds on PriceRunner, one of the leading Nordic price comparison sites. Klarna completed the PriceRunner acquisition in April 2022 and later that year launched in-app price comparison in the United Kingdom, Sweden and Denmark. In 2023 it also moved the Norwegian comparison site Prisguiden into Klarna.no.
Shoppers use Klarna to search for products, compare offers from different stores, follow price history and get alerts when prices drop. Results can be filtered by color, size, features, ratings, availability and delivery options. The people who arrive through the comparison service already know what they want to buy and are looking for the best offer.
For merchants, the entry requirement is a product feed. Klarna states that a feed is all you need to join its comparison service, and you share it with your client manager or the local team. Listing products does not require using Klarna as a payment method.
Feedyio generates the Klarna feed in XML. It contains the ID, name, price with currency code, stock status, brand, description, condition, product and image link, EAN, manufacturer SKU, variant group ID and a category based on the Google product taxonomy. Through custom attributes you can add shipping cost, lead time, color, size, material, pattern, gender, age group or energy efficiency class.
Klarna matches store offers to product pages, and a valid EAN/GTIN speeds this matching up. Feedyio does not drop products without a barcode, but it pays to fill in EANs in Shopify for as many products as possible. Mapping categories also helps, so that the Category field is populated.
The Klarna template in Feedyio supports Sweden, Denmark, Norway and the United Kingdom. For each market you set the currency and language, plus optional UTM parameters to track traffic. The feed updates automatically every hour, so prices and availability shown on Klarna match your store.
