Árukereső "Megbízható bolt": what the trusted-shop badge is and how to earn it

If you’re selling into Hungary, you’ve seen the green badge next to competitors on Árukereső and probably wondered what it takes to get one. The short answer: "Megbízható bolt" (Trusted Shop) is a free certification earned through verified customer reviews. The longer answer matters more, because the badge isn’t just a trust mark - a shop’s rating feeds into how its offers rank, so a certified shop tends to get better, cheaper placement. This guide explains what Árukereső is, what the certification means, the two levels, how reviews are gathered, and how to wire it all up from a Shopify store.

What is Árukereső and why Hungarian shoppers trust it

Árukereső.hu is Hungary’s market-leading price and product comparison site. It has operated since 2004, lists several million products from around 3,900 webshops, and draws roughly 12 million users a month - the large majority arriving through organic search. It has been part of the Heureka Group since 2016 and is a Google CSS (Comparison Shopping Service) partner, which is why offers from Árukereső also appear inside Google Shopping results.

For a Hungarian shopper, Árukereső is often the first stop before a purchase: compare prices across shops, read shop ratings, then click through to buy. That means two things decide whether a shopper picks you over a cheaper competitor: your price and your reputation on the site. The first you control directly; the second is what the trusted-shop program is built to earn.

What "Megbízható bolt" actually is (and why it affects your ranking, not just your image)

"Megbízható bolt" - Trusted or Reliable Shop - is a free quality certification that Árukereső has run since 2009. It gives shoppers an objective, third-party signal that a store delivers on its promises, based not on the merchant’s own marketing but on reviews left by people who actually bought from it.

The badge shows up in two places: on your shop’s listing inside Árukereső, and as a widget you can embed on your own website to reassure visitors there too. The part many merchants miss is that the rating behind the badge is the same signal that influences where your offers sit in the product listings. A strong rating doesn’t just look good - it helps you compete for visibility against shops with similar prices. So the program is worth treating as a performance lever, not a vanity badge.

It also costs nothing to participate, which changes the maths of whether to bother. There’s no fee for the certification itself; the only investment is the technical setup and, of course, running a shop that earns good reviews. For a merchant already paying for clicks on Árukereső, the badge effectively makes those clicks work harder - the same traffic converts better when it lands on a visibly trusted shop, and a higher rating can lift you above competitors without raising your bids.

The two certification levels - green frame vs. green background

There are two visual tiers, and the difference is driven entirely by review volume and average score:

  • Green frame - the entry tier. Typically awarded once your shop has at least 10 reviews and an average rating of around 4.2 or higher.
  • Green background - the stronger tier, signalling a consistently well-rated shop. Typically requires at least 60 reviews and an average of around 4.6 or higher.

Both thresholds are evaluated over a rolling time window rather than your all-time history, so the badge reflects how you’re performing now. Reported windows vary between sources (commonly cited as roughly 60 to 90 days), so check the current value on the official partner page before you rely on an exact number. The practical takeaway is the same either way: you need a steady flow of recent, positive reviews to win and keep the badge - a great score from two years ago won’t carry you.

How reviews are collected (verified buyers and the post-purchase questionnaire)

Every rating behind the badge comes from a real buyer, and that’s the whole point. The mechanism is straightforward:

  1. A customer places an order in your shop.
  2. Your shop transmits the order data to Árukereső after the order - typically the customer’s email address and the names of the products purchased.
  3. Árukereső emails that customer a short satisfaction questionnaire after the purchase, asking about the shop and the products.
  4. The customer’s response becomes a verified review tied to a genuine order.

A few rules are worth knowing. Customers can opt out of being contacted at checkout, so consent is respected. You are not allowed to cherry-pick who gets asked to rate you - the questionnaire goes out for orders regardless of how that customer found you. The questionnaire is sent some days after purchase (and product-specific questions can follow a bit later, once there’s been time to use the item), so reviews reflect the full experience including delivery, not just checkout.

This design is what makes the badge credible to shoppers: there’s no way to manufacture a clean rating from invented testimonials, because every review traces back to an order Árukereső knows about. It also means the one thing you can’t outsource is the actual customer experience - an app can wire up the data flow, but the score is earned by shipping good products on time.

How to register as an advertiser and turn on the program

Getting certified starts with being an active advertiser on Árukereső, then enabling the trusted-shop data flow. At a high level:

  1. Meet the advertiser prerequisites. You need a Hungarian-language webshop showing prices in HUF, valid company and invoicing details, and clear purchase terms on the site. Listings are priced on a CPC (cost-per-click) basis, with a minimum credit top-up of around HUF 10,000 to start.
  2. Submit your product catalog. Árukereső accepts a product feed via CSV or XML. This is the catalog that populates your offers across the comparison listings.
  3. Enable "Megbízható bolt" from the Partner Portal once your shop is live, then complete the technical wiring below.

Get your WebAPI key and widget code

In the Árukereső Partner Portal you’ll find your WebAPI key and the widget code for the badge. The key authenticates the order data you send; the widget code is what you place on your own site if you want to display the live rating there. Copy both into your platform’s configuration - on Shopify, this is handled for you (see below).

Send order data after each order, and set up SPF/DNS so emails land

Two technical steps make or break the program:

  • Transmit order data after every order. Without the post-purchase data (email plus product names), Árukereső has no one to survey, and no reviews come in. This needs to fire reliably on each completed order, not occasionally.
  • Configure SPF/DNS so the questionnaire emails are delivered. If your sending domain isn’t set up correctly, review-request emails can land in spam, which quietly throttles your review volume. Getting the DNS records right is the difference between a trickle and a steady stream of reviews.

One honest caveat on trust badges in general: no certification is a perfect guarantee. A 2024 investigation in the Hungarian press reported cases of bad-faith shops that had nonetheless displayed trust marks, a reminder that the badge raises the bar but doesn’t replace a shopper’s judgement. For a legitimate merchant, that’s actually good news - a genuinely strong rating, earned from real orders, is exactly the kind of signal that stands out.
